KAVIENG WAR MEMORIAL THURSDAY 4th JULY 2002
Welcome and Introduction
Hymn
O God our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from a stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope in years to come,
Be our true guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.
Prayer
Let us remember before God, and commend to his sure keeping, those who have died in war, those who we know, and whose memory we treasure;
and all who have lived and died in the service of mankind.

Prayer
Almighty and eternal God, from whose love in Christ we can not be parted, either by death or life; hear our prayers and thanksgiving for all who we remember this day; fulfil in them
the purpose of your love; and bring us all, with them, to your eternal joy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hymn
Abide with me; Fast flows the eventide:
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide:
When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O thou who changest not, abide with me.
I fear no foe with you at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where grave, thy destiny?
I triumph still, if you abide with me.
The Blessing
Go out into the world in peace. Be brave; keep hold of what is good; never pay back wrong with wrong; encourage the faint hearted; support the weak and distressed; give due honour to
everyone; be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks whatever happens, for this is what God in Christ wills of you.
And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be with us and remain with us always. Amen.
